What You Need to Know about Using Credit Cards to Make Money

When you think of credit card debt, what images do you conjure up in your mind? Most people might envisage people drowning in an ocean of debt, unable to pay the bills, living pay check to pay check, teetering on the verge of bankruptcy, and being literally one missed payment away from losing your house and home. It makes you wonder why so many people are drawn to apply for a credit card easily.

But that is just one perspective on credit cards. That is the poor man’s attitude toward credit card use. Using a credit card to buy consumer goods that you cannot afford to pay in cash only gets you sucked into a financial trap that you cannot get out of. You get mired into a debt trap that makes it difficult, if not downright impossible, for you move forward in life financially.

But there is another way to use credit cards. No, I’m not talking about using a credit and then paying off the balance every month. There is a way to use credit cards responsibly, to actually help you earn money every month. And again no, I am not talking about using your credit card to earn cash back rewards every month or every year.

What we are talking about here is a way how to use credit cards in order to get rich. Yes, it is possible to earn money using your credit cards. And the secret of how to do this is actually quite a bit simpler than you might think.

How?

Rather than using your credit cards to buy disposable consumer goods for yourself, you use them to buy products, goods, or services in order to resell them. Have you ever heard of the old adage “buy low, sell high”? Essentially what that means is that you buy something of value at a deeply discounted price, and then you turn around and sell that very same item either as-is, or with the infusion of a little bit of extra money in order to refurbish, repair, clean, upgrade, or improve it in some way, and then you resell it to someone else at the standard market retail price.

You are not just applying for a credit card, but by using a credit card, you don’t have to front any of your own money in order to invest. As long as you are able to turn around and resell the product or service within the interest free credit card grace period, you won’t have to worry about paying off the credit card debt using your own money. The consumer who buys the product from you will, essentially. Off course, the key is to apply for a credit card with a long interest free period (Clydesdale Bank with their 0% for 17 month offer is definitely worth considering).

When used responsibly, credit cards can be used as an excellent means for investing in any type of business that will earn you more money back than what you spent. You can buy tangible goods on consignment. You can buy multiple items in bulk from a vendor at wholesale prices for a discount and resell them individually at retail. If you have a large enough credit line, you can do this with bigger ticket items such as used cars, furniture, and electronics.

What if you are unable to recoup your money before the grace period expires?

Well, you will have to pay the money you owe for the minimum monthly payment plus finance charges. So depending on how much of a profit you stand to make off of your initial investment, you have to assess the risk involved. Can you buy something for £50 and sell it for £100 in less than 30 days in order to pay off your credit card and earn a profit? Or would you be comfortable paying £10 as a minimum monthly payment? This would no doubt eat into your profit margin.

Do your homework before you get those credit cards out. Apply for a credit card with this plan of action – and make it work for you. However, this type of business is a risk. It can either make you very rich or can make you very poor. Your choice.
