These days we seem to spend a lot of money on phone apps. You may think that each app is quite cheap, but it can add up really quickly if you buy them often. There are many different sorts and they do lots of different things and that is why we want so many of them. However, there are ways that we can make them a lot more affordable.

Only use free apps
The obvious way to stop paying for apps is just use free ones. There are a lot of free apps out there to try. You may think that because they are free they will not be so good, but this is not necessarily the case. Some of the free apps are actually better than the paid ones, you just have to choose the right ones. The free aps may have adverts in them, but it will be worth it if you do not have to pay for them. It is always worth reading reviews of apps anyway, but why not compare all of the free ones first and try a few as you may find that you do not want to buy one after all.

Don’t buy in-app items
There are many apps that have the option to purchase things within the app. These can add up to being really expensive. Things like lives for games or paying to play casino games. It can be too easy to spend money without even realising that you are doing so. It can be a good idea to not buy apps like this if you think that you are buying too much when you are using them. You may also get the lives or game credits eventually anyway, it is just a game and worth waiting a while to get the credits or lives later rather than paying or them.

Set a budget
It can be sensible to set yourself a spending budget. Think about how much you can afford to spend on apps each month, including both the price of the apps and the in app purchases and then you will be able to make sure that you do not spend too much. It may be tricky, but it will help you to keep control of what you are spending. Keep a written record of how much you spend so that you know when you need to stop spending.

Remove your credit card
It can be a good idea to remove your credit card form you app store account. This will mean that it will be much harder for you to make purchases and you will not be able to buy things by accident. It could be annoying having to put it back on when you do want to pay for something but it will certainly make you think hard before you do because of the hassle of doing it.

Ask for vouchers
If people ask you what you want for birthdays and other celebrations, then it can be worth asking them for app store vouchers. This will allow you to be able to use them to spend on the expensive apps that you would like to have.
