Many people these days choose to sell things online. This can be a great way to make some extra money, whether you are selling things that you no longer want to make some money or whether you have bought things to sell online. When you are doing this though, there are ways that you can sell items in order to make more money.

To start with it is worth looking at the selling fees of various places and comparing them. Consider whether the cheaper places are offering good value for money though. If you pay to list and it doesn’t sell then this is wasted money even if it is cheaper than an alternative site. The best thing to do is to try to look at items that have previously sold, that are similar to yours and how much they have sold for so that you can decide which looks to offer the best value for money.

Once you have decided who to sell through you will be wise to take a look at listings on that site. Look at items for sale and that have sold and examine how they are presented. Look at both photos and text and decide whether you think that there are certain things which make a difference to price. Often a selection of good quality pictures can make a difference. Also a really clear description so the buyer knows exactly what they are getting. If the items are not perfect, it can be tempting to be vague about that. However, buyers like to know exactly what they are getting and will trust you as a seller more if you give precise details. Therefore it is best to explain exactly what the damage is and have photos of it so buyers know what to expect. The more detail that you can add, the better. Therefore spend some time writing a detailed description. Do a quick heading so at a glance those who have little time can see what it is and get the basics, but have more detail so others can carefully consider it. This is especially important on expensive items as people will not want to risk spending a lot of money if they are not completely sure about what they are getting.

Make sure that you include details of exactly what is included in what you are selling. Describe every separate part if it is a batch of items, explain what the condition is like and give specifics on any damage.

It is also useful to explain when items will be posted or when they can be collected. Some people will be able to guarantee they can post quickly and others will not, so make sure potential buyers are aware of your situation. If the item can be collected, then make sure that you make it clear when you will be available for them to collect it from you.

It is really important to spend some time making sure that the photos look good and that the description is good as it can make a really big difference to the selling price. You also want to make sure that you choose the right place to sell the item so that you have the best chance of making a good profit.
