Keeping fit is something that we should all work hard to do. It is beneficial to our health in many ways, both physically and mentally, but many of us do not work hard enough at it. Some people feel that it is too expensive to keep fit, but there are many ways that you can keep fit without it having to cost any money at all.
Although having a personal trainer can be really useful, there are alternatives. A personal trainer can motivate you more than you would do if you were exercising alone. Not only will having one encourage you to even make the effort to exercise they will also push you during your exercise session. This could be achieved with a friend or family member though. If you pair up with someone that also wants to get fitter, you will be able to push each other. You could gently encourage or really compete, depending on what you think will work better for you. This can really help you to be as motivated as you would be with a personal trainer particularly as it will be reciprocal and you will want to do well to help each other.
There are some ways to exercise which are quite expensive such as gym memberships or exercise classes, but alternatively there are some which are much cheaper and may be a better option. If you like certain pieces of gym equipment then it could be cheaper to buy them to have at home rather than paying for the gym membership. Find out how much they cost and do the calculations to work out whether it is worth the investment. If you would rather not exercise alone, then it could be cheaper to be part of a team sport rather than a gym. Perhaps look into local sports clubs and see whether you could join up with anything that will be cheaper.
If you are happy exercising alone, then you could always walk or jog and do strength training at home. You can buy cheap weights or use things that you have in the home to provide weight or resistance that you need. You can use online videos or websites in order to help you to know which types of exercises you should be doing and to make sure that you are doing it safely and correctly. If you have done similar exercises in the past, perhaps at a gym, then you may know how to do them anyway. Motivation is not always easy, but make sure that you start making time each week or even each day for exercise. Fit it into a convenient place where you will not be too tired or have excuses not to do it. Make sure that you remember to do it by setting a reminder or alarm and then you should find it easier. Once you get into the routine of doing it, it will be a lot easier for you to continue with it.
It is important to make sure that the exercise you choose suits you. Not only should you check with your doctor to make sure that what you are doing is safe for you, but it needs to be fun for you. If you do not enjoy it, then you will be less likely to carry on with it and so choose it carefully.
